Known as "The Heart of NSW", residents live here in communities ranging from a mere 20 up to 3000.
Agriculture is the main industry and the wide open plains exhibit rich crops, wonderful wool producing sheep and well fed cattle. Situated on the banks of the Lachlan River Condobolin has Gum Bend Recreational Lake located 5km to the west of town and used for all water sports, concerts and picnics. The town's well preserved buildings attract history enthusiasts. Lake Cargelligo is built on the foreshores of a large inland lake and provides a rest for travellers on the nearby Kidman Highway - the 1300 residents are keen to show off their way of life "outback" during the various Festivals held at the Lake - sailing regattas, fishing competitions and bird watching. Tottenham is the geographical centre of NSW and the big old pub attracts visitors each year during the annual "Dog a hog" competition. Tullibigeal is a small farming community with a population of 200 and has produced many an Aussie rules football player - the Hall of fame is popular. Burcher's pub and bush chapel, along with the old bakery museum has much to offer for filming. Throughout the area, well preserved old pubs, farm houses, woolsheds and halls provide great settings along with the mechanics of primary production - silos, transport, sale yards. So too the natural landscape and waterways - Gallipoli was filmed here in Fifield.
