Coonabarabran is an idyllic country town in the heart of Central NSW about 5.5 hours north west of Sydney.
The region is intrinsically linked with nature. Unique landmarks include the spectacular crooked mountains and abundant wildlife of Warrumbungle National Park and white observatory domes of Siding Spring Observatory, Australia’s largest astronomy research facility.
Coonabarabran is the main service centre with the key industries being tourism, horticulture, manufacturing, astronomy and mixed agriculture.
The surrounding villages have their own distinct character. Mendooran is a small village painted in colourful murals, there are some lovely historic homesteads on rural properties near Coolah which is known for being one of NSW best wool, sheep and crop producing areas. Binnaway is noted for it’s rail history and Baradine and Dunedoo have great quintessential heritage pubs.
Other impressive features are the giant grasstrees of Coolah Tops National Park and the vista's across the Liverpool plains.
