Hay is situated half way between Sydney & Adelaide (7 ½ hrs drive to either) and is only 4 ½ hours from Melbourne. There are daily flights from Sydney to Griffith which is only 1hr 20minutes drive from Hay.
Merino sheep, cattle, a range of crops (such as rice, cotton, wheat) & horticulture (lettuce, rockmelons) fill the landscape. See a 360 degrees sunset or sunrise across the plains or sky ablaze with stars.
There are many historic buildings such as the Hay Gaol, Hay Railway Station, Court House, Bishops Lodge Historic House (designed by Australian Architect John Sulman), Hay War Memorial High School, Hay Post Office and the contemporary Shear Outback (including the Murray Downs Woolshed).
National Parks and open landscapes enable easy access to native wildlife and rural scenes.
